Call for Independent Experts
Join the BlueActionBANOS Pool of Experts
BlueActionBANOS invites experienced professionals to join our Pool of Independent Experts to support the evaluation of project proposals and provide guidance to funded initiatives working to restore our ocean, seas and waters across the Baltic and North Sea region.
This Call is open to professionals with expertise across a wide range of marine, coastal, environmental, policy and innovation fields, and with strong familiarity with local contexts within the BANOS region.

Who can apply?
We welcome expressions of interest from professionals with expertise in areas including, but not limited to:
- Marine, coastal and aquatic ecosystem protection
- Pollution prevention and resilience strategies
- Blue economy and sustainable maritime innovation
- Policy, governance and legal frameworks
- Research, engineering and data management
- Community engagement, capacity-building and co-creation
- Communication, coaching, finance and organisational support
We hope to gather a diverse and inclusive pool of experts with profiles in many different fields of expertise and familiarity of local contexts within the BANOS region.
Expert Roles
Experts selected through this Call may be invited to serve in one or more of the following roles:
- Independent Proposal Evaluators:
Evaluate applications submitted under BlueActionBANOS open calls by assessing proposals against predefined award criteria and preparing structured evaluation reports. - Independent Ethics Reviewers:
Review selected proposals to ensure compliance with relevant ethical standards and regulatory requirements. - Technical Assistance Providers:
Support funded projects through tailored guidance, knowledge transfer, expert reviews, workshops or training activities aligned with project needs.
How to Apply
Interested candidates must complete the Expression of Interest Form, which records your fields of professional activity, your experience related to the roles recruited in BlueActionBANOS, and your interest and motivation for these roles.
After a validation step, you will be added to the ‘Pool of Experts’, i.e., you will be part of a group of independent experts that MAY be recruited for a specific role within the BlueActionBANOS project. A contract will be signed only at the stage when you are offered a specific role and after you confirm your acceptance.
