Is your coastal community just "reacting" to change, or leading it?
Imagine a traditional coastal town where the old ways of doing things, like intensive tourism or traditional fishing, are coming to a halt, whether it's because of an ageing fishing population or practices that take a toll on the health of the sea. The community feels pressure from changing demographics, new environmental regulations, shifting markets, or the emergence of sectors that conflict with its identity. It feels like the future is being decided elsewhere, and as a local community, you just feel like you are along for the ride.
This is the type of context where a Transition Agenda (TA) grant can make things look different and more in control.
A TA isn't just a simple project; it’s a tool designed to help local governments, NGOs, and community groups take back control. It’s your community’s strategic roadmap, a multi-year plan to figure out new ways to transition from old (or new) pressures to a more inclusive, sustainable, and circular blue economy.
TAs are not one-off actions, but rather blueprints for developing solutions that can help your community build sustainable visions for shifts like decarbonising coastal zones or rethinking marine restoration.
TA grants also come with 18 Months of Expert Support. This is invaluable, as it means that your community is not left to figure things out on their own. Through a network of experts and tested solutions from across Europe’s basins, the BlueActionBANOS consortium will provide selected communities with tailored technical assistance, expert counselling, and peer-to-peer reviews to help your community refine its vision and build new networks.
Don't let the future be something that just "happens" to your community. Use this grant to define what that future looks like and gain control over the processes that seem out of your reach.
